The Big Idea Of 2 Corinthians Is The Story Of Paul’s Joy In Partnering With Them In The Ministry

Paul wrote this second letter to the Corinthian church to express his joy over being able to minister with them.

This letter was written about 6 months after 1 Corinthians.  Paul was preparing to come back and visit the Corinthians.

There are 4 things Paul focuses on in this letter:

First, his joy over their response to the correction he gave them in 1 Corinthians and how he couldn’t wait to come and see them.

Second, his excitement about partnering with them to give out the good news of Jesus and the power of God to change lives.

Third, Paul encourages the Corinthians to take up a collection for their brethren in Jerusalem who are suffering.  He reminds them that the ministry of giving is such a joy.

Finally, since some of the Corinthians are doubting Paul’s authority to lead them, Paul defends his leadership.

Key New Testament Kid’s Application:

  1. Giving is one of the greatest blessings for the giver and the receiver.  Paul wrote that some are in need, God provides, we give and all give thanks.   Ask your children who they see in need and determine how to give to meet that need.  Then spend some time rejoicing with God that He provides and they can partner with God in ministering to others.
