HEBREWS- ILLUSTRATION

The unknown author encourages Hebrew Christians to put their faith in Christ and His superior work and person.

KTMTTMT – Keep the main thing the main thing.  It is so easy to get distracted as Christians.  This writer put it very simply, keep Christ the main thing.

He told these Christians that anything else they might want to put their faith in; prophets, angels, Moses, Aaron, the temple, sacrifices, are all inferior to Christ and His work.

He wrote that they are to keep their faith in Christ just like long ago examples of the faithful; Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham and Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Rahab, Samson, David, Solomon, and little know men and women.  They put their faith in Christ and for some it cost them their lives.

The author tells the Hebrew Christians to not get distracted but to keep looking at Christ.  That faith would give them confidence and take them through trials.

Key New Testament Kids Application:

  1. Ask your kids why they pray before meals.  Remind them that it is an act of faith where we give thanks for what God has given to us.  Ask them what it looks like to live by faith all day long?  Share some examples of faithful lives from Hebrews 11.
