Teaching children about the Bible miracles is important because it helps them to see how nothing is impossible for God. If God can do miracles in the Bible, He can do them in our children’s lives today. Here is an easy way to do that interactively.
Remind your children that God’s children (The Jews) were now slaves in Egypt. Moses and his brother Aaron have been called by God to tell Pharaoh (Egypt’s king) that He must let the Jews go. Pharaoh had told them NO!
So God brought 10 miraculous plagues to convince Pharaoh to let His people go. Here is the first plague.
Ask the children…
Where did Moses and Aaron meet Pharaoh and what did they need to bring with them?
“So go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes down to the river. Stand on the bank of the Nile and meet him there. Be sure to take along the staff that turned into a snake.” (Exodus 7:15)
What was the miracle supposed to prove to Pharaoh?
“So this is what the LORD says: ‘I will show you that I am the LORD.’ Look! I will strike the water of the Nile with this staff in my hand, and the river will turn to blood.” (Exodus 7:11, 12)
What happened in this miracle?
“So Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them. As Pharaoh and all of his officials watched, Aaron raised his staff and struck the water of the Nile. Suddenly, the whole river turned to blood! The fish in the river died, and the water became so foul that the Egyptians couldn’t drink it. There was blood everywhere throughout the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 7:20, 21)
Imagine, no water to drink and stinky fish everywhere! How did the Pharaoh respond?
“So Pharaoh’s heart remained hard. He refused to listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had predicted.” (Exodus 7:22)
Just because God does a miracle does not mean everything gets fixed right away. In this case, God continued to harden Pharaoh’s heart so God could do bigger and bigger miracles later.
Now you can see how Bible miracles are God’s way of blessing the world. Glory to Him!!!
