Over the past week my family and I were in Lake Tahoe for a family reunion. There are now some little children in the family and I quickly discovered that the 3 year old loves to play memory! This is an easy game that can be thrown in the child’s favor with no great effort.
One thing that made this easy game even more fun was we played with bible memory cards that I found at Dollar Tree. Each card had a bible story that they had to match with another in order to get a pair. For each pair that they earned we talked about the story represented on the card.
The nice thing about this idea is depending on the age of the child that you are playing with you can make your own cards and have them help you so they are even more involved in the bible story process. You really only need 2 cards that match for each pair. Below are the basic rules for how to play memory.
THE RULES FOR PLAYING “MEMORY”
1. Mix up the cards.
2. Lay them in rows, face down.
3. Turn over any two cards.
4. If the two cards match, keep them.
5. If they don’t match, turn them back over.
6. Remember what was on each card and where it was.
7. Watch and remember during the other player’s turn.
8. The game is over when all the cards have been matched.
9. The player with the most matches wins.
Have you played a Bible memory card game before? What did your version look like?
