Bible Verse on Teaching Kids To Keep A Clear Conscience

A clear conscience

Why is it important that our kids learn to confess quickly when they make a mistake? We think this Bible verse in 1 Timothy makes this clear.

1 Timothy 1:19 – “Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.” (NLT)

A clear conscience gives us the freedom to know the peace of God through forgiveness. It also  protects us from hardening our hearts over the years and as a result  loosing our faith. A clear conscience is a gift from God and as a Christian it is constantly available. It is our privilege as Christians parents to teach our kids that they can come to God and confess anything at any time and he will love them and forgive them.

We also have the privilege of teaching them that they can walk out the consequences of any of their bad behaviors one day at a time in the power of Jesus. They can do the right thing because Jesus will be there and do it with them.

A clear conscience is a wonderful blessing that we have as followers of a merciful savior. Let’s encourage our kids to tap into that blessing.
