Bible Verse To Help Kids Control Their Negative Emotions

Stressed Child

Ever wonder what Bible verse you can teach a child that will help them when they are feeling overwhelmed? We love 1 Corinthians 10:13.

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Obviously spouting a Bible verse at them when they are stressed is not the answer but how about teaching them this verse so when crisis comes it will pop up in their memory.

Fear, stress, sadness, being overwhelmed, these are just a few of the negative emotions that we all deal with. How about encouraging them to memorize this verse then role play with them the different “ways of escapes” you might have depending on the emotion. If they are stressed about school and grades, what would be good “way of escape?” How about if they have a fear of an event or possible fear of another person? Role playing is a great way to walk out this verse.

This Bible verse tells how God is faithful, why not help them think through how God might be faithful to us even when we don’t feel like it. Help them think on the power of God and how He always loves us and is willing to help us. Many times he uses other people, and distractions to help us relax in the middle of the situation.
