“Can Brown Eyes be Made Blue?”- A Missionary’s Story

Can brown eyes be made blue?

A great book to read to your kids tonight is Can Brown Eyes be Made Blue? by Catherine Mackenzie.  This book is the story of Amy Carmichael as a child before she knew she wanted to be a missionary.  A brief summary of the book is that as a child Amy would pray to God each night to change her eyes from brown to blue.  Not to spoil the book but basically this story is the foundation for her ministry in the Muslim world.

This is a fun short book to read as a family.  The best part is it is about a real person and her experiences as a child.  It will be highly relatable to your children and help them to recognize that missionaries were once children too.
