Lent is the season of preparation for Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday and lasts through Holy Saturday (the day before Easter). Traditionally, Christians have observed Lent by devotion, fasting, repenting, and giving. We can invite our children to join us as we observe this season, as we prepare our hearts and our lives for Easter.
Thanks to Kimberlee Conway Ireton for her plan that I used to develop these Kid’s Devotions.http://www.stchristophers-mn.org/storage/files/family-devotions-for-lent.pdf
As we get closer to the Easter, we are reminded that Jesus responds when we step out in faith.
Ask the children…
What was the matter with the woman described here?
“A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding.” (Mark 5:25)
What act of faith did she do and what happened to her?
“For she thought to herself, ‘If I can just touch his (Jesus) robe, I will be healed.’ 29 Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.” (Mark 5:28, 29)
What did Jesus say about that?
“Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.” (Mark 5:34)
Jesus said that her act of faith had brought about her healing and the end of her suffering. When we step out in faith Jesus meets us there and does miraculous things.
Ask your children where they need the touch of Jesus in their lives? How can they step out in faith and trust Jesus to bring about change? You may have to prompt them here with some questions and suggestions. Make a plan with them for stepping out in faith and then pray and ask Jesus to meet them in their act of faith just like He did with the bleeding woman.
