Background: The prophet Ezekiel ministered for 22 years to the Jews who had been already taken into exile in Babylon while their brothers left behind back in Judah were still rebelling against God. Ezekiel is a man of visions and writes of the judgement that Judah will experience and also God’s promises of restoration.
One of the great insights from Ezekiel is the fall of Satan long ago.
Ask the children…
Satan was created one of God’s beautiful angels. What was satan’s sin?
“Your heart was filled with pride because of all your beauty. Your wisdom was corrupted by your love of splendor.” (Ezekiel 28:17)
What did God do to satan as a result?
“So I banished you in disgrace from the mountain of God. I expelled you, O mighty guardian, from your place among the stones of fire.” (Ezekiel 28:16)
Satan was created by God as a beautiful angel who stood in God’s presence on the mountain of God. But he was banished from God’s presence because of his pride in his own beauty and his unwillingness to acknowledge that this was all from God.
Ask your children if they believe that God gave them every ability that they have? Ask them if they take pride in any of these abilities? If so they are acting like satan who would not acknowledge and give glory to God for how he was created. Take some time right now to thank God with your children for how they were created and give God glory.
