This one year study thru the Bible for kids is designed to hit the highlights and provide practical application. I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Isaiah 2) while we focus in on just a few verses.
Background: The prophet Isaiah wrote this book to the southern tribe of Judah during a time of national emergency. The nation had turned their backs on God and were facing extinction by the cruel Assyrians. In the first 39 chapters are recorded a series of messages that Isaiah preaches over 40 years, to warn the Jews to turn away from their sin and to receive God’s forgiveness and blessing.
The first vision that Isaiah records is one of incredible hope for the last days.
Ask the children…
This vision was recorded regarding Judah (the remaining tribe that represented all Israel) and the city of Jerusalem. It the last days at the end of the world, where will be the most important place on earth?
“In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s house (the temple in Jerusalem) will be the highest of all— the most important place on earth.” (Isaiah 2:2)
What will God reveal when people come to Him there?
“People from many nations will come and say, ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of Jacob’s God. There he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths.’” (Isaiah 2:3)
In the last days when the Lord has revealed His anger at mankinds sin and there will be earthquakes and famine and illness and darkness and a great fear will overtake the nations. Many will turn to the Lord for answers. They will go to the temple in Jerusalem where God will instruct them regarding what is happening and why and they will turn and receive forgiveness and begin to walk with God instead of against Him.
Ask your children if they realize that God controls each day here on earth and that He is being patient waiting for all to turn from their sin and to come to Him? Remind them that God has promised when all have had a chance to hear, that He will bring about the end and even then provide one last chance for all to turn to Him. That is how much He cares for mankind. Take some time to pray a humble prayer of thanksgiving that God has revealed Himself to the world in the form of Jesus Christ and that you know Him.
