Dealing With Problems Is God’s Way!

Sometimes it is hard to deal with difficult situations.  It might seem easier to stuff all those problems into one big box and never open it.  The sooner a child realizes that that is not a good option, the better!

Secrets are like a dragon

A great way of explaining that problems never go away is like trying to hide a dragon in your house.  You can try to put him in the basement with a trap door, and a carpet covering him up, but the smoke from his flames will sneak through.  You try to put another carpet and a table on top, but the smoke will still seep through, exposing the truth.  No matter how hard you work to try to hide something, it will always pop its head up later on.  Just like that dragon is not going to stay hidden for long, so it is with our secrets.

“If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” 1 John 1:6

God does not want us to live in darkness, with lies and deceit. The world will always tell us to cover up our problems and not be honest if it means that we will suffer.  This is why it is so important to explain to your kids that truth is important, even when there are consequences.

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
