Easy Bible Lessons For Kids in 10 minutes – “Kingdom Character No. 1, Joy”, Philippians 4:4

Hook: In this easy Bible Lesson for kids, God reveals the first of 3 key character traits for those who live Kingdom lives.  Kingdom living is displayed by how we respond in our hearts to difficulties and to the blessings we receive.  The Bible tells us that because we are kids of the King, we can respond with joy no matter what the circumstance is.

Book: Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4) Notice that we are always to be full of joy.  Not just when things are going well.  We can rejoice because God is in every situation that we face.

Look: “You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy.” (Psalm 16:11) God is the one who leads us in our lives.  Can you trust Him for the path He is taking you down, even when it seems dark and scary?  Remember how Peter at Jesus’ command got out of the boat and began to walk on the water then cried out in fear when began to sink because he starting looking at the waves and wind?  He lost his joy of walking on the water because he took his eyes off of Jesus and therefore wasn’t trusting in Jesus’ power and protection any more.

Took: Ask your children what things steal their joy.  What are they thinking about when they are not joyful?  Have they taken their eyes off of Jesus?   How can they get their eyes back on Jesus and His joy?  Read these verses out loud and then tell Jesus that by the power of His Spirit you will gaze at Him  with joy and not even glance your circumstances.
