Easy Bible Lessons For Kids in 10 minutes – “Kingdom Character no. 2, Thanksgiving”, Ephesians 5:18-20

Hook: In this easy Bible Lesson for kids, God reveals the second of 3 key character traits for those who live Kingdom lives. Kingdom living is displayed by the level of thanksgiving in our hearts for everything.

Book: “Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!” (Ephesians 5:18-20) What are we to give thanks for?  EVERYTHING! Our lives are supposed to be on great song of thanksgiving to God.

Look: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6, 7) We are to live as though we are continually asking, “Let’s see what God is going to do about that”.  When we have a tough homework assignment, or are sick, or are struggling in a friendship – we give God thanks because we can’t wait to see how He is going to figure it out for our good.

Took: Ask your children what situation they are currently facing where they are struggling to give thanks.  Based on these verses, have them brainstorm how they can give thanks.  Now exercise that thankskgiving muscle and begin to give God thanks and see how God’s joy begins to fill their heart.
