Today let’s focus on teaching kids a Bible miracle from the book of Acts. Paul miraculously heals a crippled man. (Acts 14:8, 9)
As Paul and Barnabus traveled from city to city preaching the good news, they were continually opposed by the Jewish leaders. These leaders would try to refute what Saul and Barnabus were teaching. But God gave Paul and Barnabus the ability to perform miracles in order to prove that what they were saying was true. Let’s see one of these miracles that happened in Lystra.
Ask the children?
What was wrong this man? How long had he had this problem?
“While they were at Lystra, Paul and Barnabas came upon a man with crippled feet. He had been that way from birth, so he had never walked.” (Acts 14:8 )
What did Paul see in this man? As a result, what miracle did Paul do?
“He was sitting and listening as Paul preached. Looking straight at him, Paul realized he had faith to be healed. 10 So Paul called to him in a loud voice, ‘Stand up!’ And the man jumped to his feet and started walking.” (Acts 14:9)
The Holy Spirit gave Paul the knowledge that this lame main really believed that Jesus could heal him. Therefore Paul proclaimed out loud what had already been done in heaven, the healing of this lame man. Paul didn’t pray for healing, he just asked for the evidence of the healing to be revealed, the man was to stand up and walk.
When we pray the Lord’s prayer that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven, we are praying for the heavenly reality to be evidenced here on earth. Miraculous healings are one way of doing that.
Children often have a more sensitive spirit for the things of God than adults do. Encourage them to take time to stop and listen to God. Ask your children what God has been saying to them? Pray with them about this and ask God for the faith to respond to His promptings. Then like Paul – go and do it!
