Today let’s focus on teaching kids a Bible miracle from the book of Acts. Cornelius has a vision in which an angel speaks to him. (Acts 10:1-8 )
Here is a bible miracle in which an angel of God speaks to a Roman who isn’t even a Jew.
Ask the children?
Who was Cornelius and who spoke to him?
“In Caesarea there lived a Roman army officer[a] named Cornelius, who was a captain of the Italian Regiment. 2 He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God. 3 One afternoon about three o’clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. ‘Cornelius!’ the angel said..” (Acts 10:1-3)
What did the angel ask Cornelius to do?
“And the angel replied, ‘Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering! 5 Now send some men to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter. 6 He is staying with Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore.’” (Acts 10:4-6)
This was unusual because Simon Peter was a Jew and a Jew would never come to the house of a Roman. What did Cornelius do?
“As soon as the angel was gone, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, one of his personal attendants. 8 He told them what had happened and sent them off to Joppa.” (Acts 10:7, 8 )
When God speaks, even if what He asks seems crazy, He expects us to obey. Why? Because He has our best in mind and He has a plan in mind that is too big for us to understand.
Cornelius did not debate with God about the fact that a Jew would never come to the home of a Roman, he just obeyed believing that God would work out the details.
Ask your children if there is something God is asking them to do? Ask them if there is anything stopping them from doing it? Discuss the obstacle and commit it to prayer believing that God will miraculously work out the details.
