Today let’s focus on teaching kids a Bible miracle from the book of Acts. Jesus uses Peter to raise Tabitha from the dead (Acts 9:36-42)
The beloved Tabith has died and two of her friends heard about how Peter had healed the paralyzed Aeneas. They walked 6 miles and asked Peter to come and heal Tabitha.
Ask the children?
Why did everyone love Tabitha?
“She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor.” (Acts 9:36)
What did Peter do first when he arrived?
“But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed.’” (Acts 9:40)
What happened next?
“Turning to the body he said, ‘Get up, Tabitha.’ And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!” (Acts 9:40)
What did the people do as a result of this Bible miracle?
“He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive. 42 The news spread through the whole town, and many believed in the Lord.” (Acts 9:41, 42)
Again we see that God validates His word through a miraculous healing and people respond to His message. God is constantly working in this world He created to touch people’s lives so that they will know that God cares about them and has a wonderful plan for their lives. Sometimes it is an obvious miracle like this one and sometimes it is just the hand of God leading in circumstances to bless.
Ask your children where they have seen the hand of God in their lives lately? Suggest that you play a game for the next week. “I spy the hand of God”. Every night come to dinner and share every situation where you have seen the hand of God at work. Then take some time each night to praise God for His hand work.
