Today let’s focus on teaching kids a Bible miracle from the book of Acts. Jesus uses Peter to heal Aneneas from Paralysis (Acts 9:32-35)
As the gospel message went out, it was often accompanied with the miraculous power of God to meet the physical needs of those who heard. Peter is used by God for one of these Bible miracles…
Ask the children?
What was Peter doing and who was he visiting?
“Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of Lydda.” (Acts 9:32)
Who did Peter meet and what physical need did he have?
“There he met a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years..’” (Acts 9:33)
Who really healed Aeneas and how did the people respond to this Bible miracle?
“‘Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!’ And he was healed instantly. 35 Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.” (Acts 9:34, 35)
Healing comes from God. Whether it is a scrape on your arm or the instantaneous healing of a paralyzed man, it is Jesus who has designed and empowered the body to be healed.
God wants to not only heal the body, but also the spirit. Eventually our bodies will decay and rot in the ground, but our spirits will live on forever. That is why God sent each of us on a journey to spread that good news of new spiritual life available to all.
Ask your children if they know someone who’s life is in need of physical/emotional and spiritual healing? Ask them if they have any ideas how they can meet those needs? Pray together and ask God for a plan to reach out in His power.
