Fred Jordan Missions: Helping The Homeless

Fred Jordan Missions

A very cool mission organization is Fred Jordan Missions.  Their goal for the past 50 years has been serving the homeless on Skid Row in inner city Los Angeles. Today each day this ministry feeds nearly 1000 people.  This ministry was started by Fred Jordan in 1944, and even after his death, his wife and children are still running it.  Their missions statement is Proverbs 19:17 . “He who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his good deed.”  Their goal is to meet the needs of the homeless community through both physical and spiritual bread.

If you would like to read more about this awesome ministry check out their website at

The website has some great ideas for ways for individuals to get involved.  Some include:

1. Organize a drive- there is always a need for food, diapers, blankets, new shoes, new clothes.

2.Donate

3. Get the word out there about the needs of Skid Row.

4. Come down and serve! Holidays are big celebrations for Fred Jordan Missions and they can always use an extra hand.  Thanksgiving could be a chance for you and your family to serve.

If you like what you read, check out our children’s book, Hooked on the Book, on this website.  It is great for parents and kids because it provides the Big Story of God’s miraculous plan for His children in all 66 books in the Bible including colorful illustrations, rhymes and a surprise on every page
