Free 5 minute Kid’s Devotional, One Year Bible Study – December 13, Hebrews 11, “Faith Defined”

So This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Hebrews 11) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.

Background: This unknown author wrote to the Jewish christians who were scattered everywhere and were facing persecution for their faith. Many were considering renouncing their faith and to return back to the safety of Judaism. The author exhorts them to remain true to Christ because He is in every way superior to their old Jewish legal system.

The author prepares his readers to hear all about the great hall of faith.  But before he does, he first defines what true faith is.

Ask the children…

Faith is two things, what is the first?

“Now faith is the [a]assurance of things [b]hoped for.” (Hebrews 11:1)

So the first is believing the things we hope for will come to pass.  What is the second?

“the [c]conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

The second is that we believe that things we cannot see with our earthly eyes are a reality in heaven and we will see them on the earth.

Ask your children what faith means to them?  Ask them what they need faith for in their lives?  Remind them that it isn’t what they see that matters but what is unseen that God is doing that they have faith in.
