This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (2 John 1) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.
Background: John wrote this second letter to instruct believers that they should beware of deceiving teachers and how they should treat these people.
Ask the children…
What do these false teachers teach?
“I say this because many deceivers have gone out into the world. They deny that Jesus Christ came[d] in a real body.” (2 John 1:7 )
How was the church to treat these deceivers?
“If anyone comes to your meeting and does not teach the truth about Christ, don’t invite that person into your home or give any kind of encouragement. 11 Anyone who encourages such people becomes a partner in their evil work.” (2 John 1:10)
God has given us the responsibility of partnering with Him to guard the truth about His Son. If we hear someone teaching lies about Jesus we are not to encourage them or even invite them into our homes.
Ask your children what might happen if someone who has never heard about Jesus were to hear false teaching that Jesus never came in a human body or never rose from the dead? There are many who teach these lies today. Pray together that God’s word would be accurately taught all over the world and that many would hear it and be saved.
