This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Jude 1) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.
Background: Jude writes this fiery letter because there are some in the church who are teaching that since we now enjoy God’s grace and liberty, we can then do whatever we want.
Jude has some strong things to say about these evil teachers.
Ask the children…
What did these ungodly people teach?
“I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives.” (Jude 1:4 )
What was one example that Jude reminds his readers of regarding how God treats those who live immorally?
“And don’t forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment.” (Jude 1:7)
God does not take lightly those who would lead others astray by taking advantage of His grace and mercy. God guards His children from those evil teachers.
Ask your children if they know of anyone who continues to sin just because they know that God is a forgiving God? If not, remind them that there are those people out there. They may go to church and claim to believe in Jesus. They probably don’t know God and are in danger of being judged.
