Background: Jude writes this fiery letter because there are some in the church who are teaching that since we now enjoy God’s grace and liberty, we can then do whatever we want.
Jude instructs believers how they are to treat those who are caught in sin.
Ask the children…
How are believers to treat those who are struggling in sin?
“And you must show mercy to[h] those whose faith is wavering. 23 Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment.” (Jude 1:22 )
What does Jude warn the believers about?
“but be careful that you are not contaminated by their sins.” (Jude 1:22)
So our job is to partner with God in rescuing these people from their sins. Praying for them and humbly pointing out the areas of sin if they are not aware of it. Supporting them as they turn away from their sin and back to holiness. However, we need to be aware that we too could fall into these same sins and we need to be careful that we prepare ourselves for this battle before we go into it.
Ask your children if they are caught up in some area of sin? What help do they need to get out of it? Do they know others they could support who are struggling with sin? How can they help them?
