Free 5 minute Kid’s Devotional, One Year Bible Study – December 26, Revelation 7, “God Wipes Away Tears”

This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Revelation 7) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.

Background: The apostle John has been exiled to the island of Patmos. There Jesus appears to him and instructs him to write a letter to the churches. Jesus gives instruction to each of the churches individually and then shares with them a vision of what is to come in the end times, judgement upon the earth, the final destruction of satan’s forces and the beginning of a new heaven and new earth.

During the great tribulation, there will many who are persecuted and even die for their faith in Jesus.  John sees this vast crowd of people standing before the throne of the Lamb of God and worshipping.

Ask the children…

How does God reward them for their faithfulness?

“They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.”
(Revelation 7:16)

How will God lead them and into what?

“For the Lamb on the throne[c]
will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
(Revelation 7:17)

Jesus promised us that this life of following Jesus would not be easy.  For those living in the last days when evil rises up and appears to be in control and persecutes everyone who will not bow to false religion, times will be very difficult.  Many will lose their lives.  But thanks be to God that He will make everything right.  Their faithfulness will not go unrewarded.  Jesus will be there to dry their tears and to honor them.

Ask your children if they are prepared to follow Jesus even if it means sacrifice and personal hardship for them?  Do they believe they can trust God during tough times?  What kind of support will they need?  Other believers, knowledge of God’s word, strong prayer life, belief in the rewards in heaven, etc.  Talk to God about that right now and ask Him to provide what you need to stand firm.
