This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Revelation 14) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.
Background: The apostle John has been exiled to the island of Patmos. There Jesus appears to him and instructs him to write a letter to the churches. Jesus gives instruction to each of the churches individually and then shares with them a vision of what is to come in the end times, judgement upon the earth, the final destruction of satan’s forces and the beginning of a new heaven and new earth.
God does not want anyone to perish. He wants all to repent and to come to Him. He does everything He can to warn people to turn from their sins.
Ask the children…
Who did God send, to whom did He send them and what did they say?
“And I saw another angel flying through the sky, carrying the eternal Good News to proclaim to the people who belong to this world—to every nation, tribe, language, and people. 7 ‘Fear God,’ he shouted. ‘Give glory to him. For the time has come when he will sit as judge. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all the springs of water.’” (Revelation 14:6, 7)
Who else did God send and what did they say?
“Then a third angel followed them, shouting, ‘Anyone who worships the beast and his statue or who accepts his mark on the forehead or on the hand 10 must drink the wine of God’s anger. It has been poured full strength into God’s cup of wrath.’” (Revelation 14:9, 10)
God sends His angels to the whole earth in order for all people to have one last chance to turn from their sins and to be saved from the wrath to come. That is a God who cares for people.
Ask your children how they would react if they heard an angel telling them something that they didn’t want to hear? How does it make them feel about God that He will go to whatever lengths it takes to give everyone a chance to hear but that He won’t force them to choose Him, He leaves it up to them.
