Free 5 minute Kid’s Devotional, One Year Bible Study – December 31, Revelation 21, “A New Heaven and Earth”

This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Revelation 21) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.

Background: The apostle John has been exiled to the island of Patmos. There Jesus appears to him and instructs him to write a letter to the churches. Jesus gives instruction to each of the churches individually and then shares with them a vision of what is to come in the end times, judgement upon the earth, the final destruction of satan’s forces and the beginning of a new heaven and new earth.

After the final defeat of Satan and he is thrown into the lake of fire, then something new and wonderful happens.

Ask the children…

What new thing happens?

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” (Revelation 21:1, 2)

In this new city where is God and where are the people and what does God do for them?

“I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.[a] 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.’” (Revelation 21:3, 4)

When this new day arrives, God will live amongst His people and there will be no more sorrow or there will only be joy.  Heaven and earth will become one.  God’s presence and joy will be in every heart.

Ask your children if this sounds like a day they would look forward to?  If you have followed this study all the way through the Bible, rejoice in knowing God better through His word.  If not, look for these daily devotions on line that will take you through the whole Bible in one year.  Happy reading and Happy New Year!
