This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Exodus 24) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.
Background: God inspired Moses to write the first five books in the Bible. The book of Exodus is all about God’s miraculously assisting His special nation (Israel) to leave their 400 year slavery in Egypt in order to return to their promised land. Along the way God provides His people with a special tent of meeting and specific jobs and ceremonies for them to perform to enable Him to remain with them.
After God had given Moses the 10 commandments and various instructions. What did Moses do with this information?
Ask the children…
Who did Moses repeat these instructions to?
“Then Moses went down to the people and repeated all the instructions and regulations the Lord had given him.” (Exodus 24:3)
How did the people respond?
“All the people answered with one voice, ‘We will do everything the Lord has commanded.'” (Exodus 24:3)
Moses was careful to instruct God’s people with all of God’s words God had given to him. The people were willing to do all the God instructed them to do. God has our very best in mind and every instruction He gives to us is for our benefit and the benefit of others.
Ask your children if they can think of some specific instructions that God has given them from His word? Examples, “love one another”, “honor your parents”, etc. Are they willing to follow these in the power of the Holy Spirit? Tell God out loud like the nation of Israel did.
