This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Exodus 36) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.
Background: God inspired Moses to write the first five books in the Bible. The book of Exodus is all about God’s miraculously assisting His special nation (Israel) to leave their 400 year slavery in Egypt in order to return to their promised land. Along the way God provides His people with a special tent of meeting and specific jobs and ceremonies for them to perform to enable Him to remain with them.
When Moses got ready to have the people build the Tabernacle according to God’s specifications, he asked the people to bring gifts for the materials to build. He asked them only to bring what they would freely give.
Ask the children…
What did Moses have to say to the people after they began to bring the materials?
“So Moses gave the command, and this message was sent throughout the camp: ‘Men and women, don’t prepare any more gifts for the sanctuary. We have enough!’” (Exodus 36:6)
How many materials did the people freely give?
“Their contributions were more than enough to complete the whole project.” (Exodus 36:7)
More than enough! What amazing words. It seems that we are always lacking enough money to build projects, or to feed those who are hungry, or wisdom to solve the issues of the day. But here we find that God had provided through the willing hearts of His people more than enough to build the Tabernacle where He would come and dwell with His people. There He would be ‘more than enough’ for any need they would have.
Ask your children if God is ‘more than enough’ to solve any proplem that they might be facing? How can they use this passage to remind them of this truth and to act by faith as though God had already solved it? Make a drawing of a tent and over it write, ‘More Than Enough’ as a reminder of how God provides for us.
