Free 5 minute Kid’s Devotional, One Year Bible Study – January 8, Genesis 18, “Too Hard For The Lord?”

This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Genesis 18) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.

Background: God inspired Moses wrote the first five books in the Bible. The very first book, Genesis, emphasizes beginnings. Beginning of the world and mankind, beginning of sin (man’s disobedience to God) and the beginning of God’s special nation.

Some things in life seem too hard even for the Lord.  When we think this, who are we looking at, the circumstance or the Lord?

Ask the children…

When the strangers said that Sarah would have a child by this time next year, what did Sarah do and why?

“So she laughed silently to herself and said, ‘How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?’” (Genesis 18:12)

What did the Lord say about her laughter and what did He say about Himself?

“Then the Lord said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord?'” (Genesis 18:13, 14)

Even when Sarah was 90 and Abraham was 100, the Lord could still give them a child.  Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Ask your children if they can think of anything that is too hard for the Lord?  He might not do it because it is not according to His will, but it is not too hard for Him.  Ask your children to think of another miracle in the Bible and share it.
