This one year study thru the Bible for kids is designed to hit the highlights and provide practical application. I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Proverbs 24) while we focus in on just a few verses.
Background: The book of Proverbs (wise sayings) is one of the most practical books in the Bible. It is full of timeless teaching for everyday living. In it are approximately 900 pieces of wise advice for young and old. Solomon wrote most of these proverbs.
Everyone battles with laziness occasionally. But what happens when some lives a lazy life consistently?
Ask the children…
What does laziness look like?
“A little extra sleep, a little more slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest.“ (Proverbs 24:33)
What eventually happens to a lazy person?
“then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit;
scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.” (Proverbs 24:34)
All it takes is staying in bed longer than we should, resting when we should be working, and the result is poverty. P0verty of the mind because we haven’t exercised it,we can’t find a job because no one wants to hire a lazy person, and we don’t have enough money to take care of our family or to put food on the table.
Ask your children if they are being lazy in their life? Where? What is the result? What do they want to do about? What help do they need? Go to God together. As a believer in Christ, you have the same work ethic as Jesus inside you. Draw upon that and learn the way of diligence like the ant.
