Background: The apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church at Rome that he had never been to. He wrote to explain the signficance of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross. He did this with a series of question and answers.
Paul wrote to explain something amazing about what Jesus’s death did for us.
Ask the children…
How many people meet God’s standard of holiness?
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23)
What did God do about that?
“For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.” (Romans 3:25)
No one is good enough to come into God’s presence based upon their own works. Only through believing in Jesus’ sacrifice can people be made right with God.
Ask your children if they have placed their belief in Jesus’ sacrfice for them in order to make them right with God? If not, explain what God has done for them and offer them the opportunity to invite Jesus into their lives.
