This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Romans 5) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.
Background: The apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church at Rome that he had never been to. He wrote to explain the signficance of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross. He did this with a series of question and answers.
Paul tells the Romans two evidences of God’s love for them.
Ask the children…
What is one evidence that God loves us?
“For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (Romans 5:5)
What is another evidence of God’s love for us?
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (Romans 5:8)
Paul writes of two overwhelming evidences of God’s love for every person. The Holy Spirit fills us with love and Jesus gives us His life. There is no greater love than this.
Ask your children if they feel loved by God? How do they know that God loves them? Have they felt God’s love through the Holy Spirit and Jesus giving His life for them? Spend some time discussing God’s love and how it is expressed towards us.
