Free 5 minute Kid’s Devotional, One Year Bible Study – November 22, 1 Corinthians 15, “Death Has Lost It’s Sting”

This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (I Corinthians 15) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.

Background: Corinth was a great commercial center and Paul had planted this church in Corinth during his second missionary journey. He wrote this letter to the church at Corinth to deal with several issues the church was facing; problems of disunity, problems with immorality, problems with gifts and worship, problems with errors in teaching.

Some Corinthians were wondering what happens when we die.  What happens to these earthly bodies?

Ask the children…

What Paul write happens to our bodies when we die?

“For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.” (1 Corinthians 15:53)

Should we then be afraid of death?

“Death is swallowed up in victory.[k] 55 aO death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55)

Because Jesus has promised us eternal life with Him including a new body when we die and discard this old body, we don’t need to be afraid of death.  As one author said, “You can’t scare with with heaven”.

Ask your children to think of someone that they know who has died?  Remind them that if this person knew Jesus they are enjoying themselves with Jesus in a brand new body that will never be sick or die.
