Free 5 minute Kid’s Devotional, One Year Bible Study – November 4, Acts 10, “Holy Spirit Speaks”

This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (Acts 10) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.

Background: Doctor Luke wrote not only the gospel of Luke but also this additional historical account of the birth and the spread of the church by the power of the Holy Spirit of Christ. He called this book, Acts. Some call it the Acts of the Apostles or the Acts of the Holy Spirit.

In the new era of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling, the Holy Spirit began to speak to people regularly.  This was to become the norm.  That is amazing.

Ask the children…

Peter had been give a vision of a sheet coming down from heaven with certain animals on it that he was commanded to kill and eat.  This command would cause him to break the law of Moses.  How did Peter feel about this?

“Peter was very perplexed. What could the vision mean?” (Acts 10:17)

What did the Holy Spirit do to respond to Peter?

“the Holy Spirit said to him, ‘Three men have come looking for you. 20 Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Don’t worry, for I have sent them.’” (Acts 10:19)

The Holy Spirit came and answered the question that was in Peter’s mind.  Does this sound again like the Garden where God spoke directly to Adam?  Absolutely!  Now anyone can ask the Holy Spirit to speak to them and in some way, shape or form He will speak back.

Ask your children if they know how to hear the Holy Spirit?  Has the Holy Spirit ever spoken to them audibly?  Do they know that they can talk directly to the Holy Spirit?  Go ahead and try asking a question of the Holy Spirit right now about an issue that they need direction on.
