Background: Mark writes to involve the reader in the intensity of the miraculous life of Christ. He focuses more on what Jesus does than what He says, especially His service and sacrifice.
Jesus seemed always to come up unique ways to heal. I wonder why? .
Ask the children…
How did Jesus first begin to heal the blind man?
“Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, he laid his hands on him and asked, ‘Can you see anything now?'” (Mark 8:23)
After the partial healing, what did Jesus do next?
“Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.” (Mark 8:25)
Sometimes Jesus healed poeple immediately and other times it took longer. Sometimes Jesus spoke to disease and other times He touched people.
Ask your children why they think Jesus may have used these different methods? Hint: Maybe Jesus didn’t want us to think that healing was predictable and if we used a ceratin method it would happen the same way every time. Ask your children how this impacts their having to trust in God?
