Free 5 minute Kid’s Devotional, One Year Bible Study – October 30, John 14, “Ask Anything”

This free one year kid’s devotional study thru the Bible is designed to hit the highlights, provide practical application and requires no preparation. If you have a little more time, I encourage you to read the whole section of scripture (John 14) while we focus in on just a few verses in 5 minutes.

Background: The apostle John focuses on certain events that no other gospel writer’s write about (the encounter with Nicodemus, the Samaritan womant at the well, the man born blind, raising of Lazarus) for the purpose of proving that Jesus is in fact the Son of God.

As Jesus was doing His final teaching to His disciples prior to His death, He told them something absolutely amazing that we still have trouble believing today…

Ask the children…

What amazing promise did Jesus make to His disciples?

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” (John 14:12)

It was so amazing that Jesus repeated it how many more times to the disciples just to make sure they got it?

“You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” (John 14:43, 44)

So 3 times in all Jesus told the disciples that they could ask Him anything and He would do it.  Jesus knew that the disciples as well as us would try to come up with excuses or would lack faith so we wouldn’t take Jesus at His word.  Let’s stop worrying about the time that somebody asked for something of Jesus and they didn’t see it happen right away.  Let’s start taking Him at His word for the glory of God.  When we do, we will undoubtedly begin to see the same miracles that Jesus did and even greater.

Ask your children if they believe what Jesus promised to His disciples?  Is this promise for your children too?  If they really believe it, what could they ask the Lord for right NOW that would give glory to God.  DO IT!!!
