GEMS Girls’ Clubs is a non-denominational, non-profit Christian organization that seeks to equip women and girls to live radically faithful lives for Christ. Clubs are established in churches and other Christian organizations and allow women to mentor girls as they develop a living, dynamic relationship with Jesus.
GEMS stands for Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior. There is so much information on the GEMS website but I have included some of the most important parts here.
The mission of GEMS Girls’ Clubs is to help bring girls into a living, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our vision is to see girls around the world actively and enthusiastically expressing love for God and others—girls equipped, motivated, and passionately engaged in living out their faith.
Together, our goal for every club meeting is to grow bigger hearts. Together, we will learn how to love and care for one another, other people, ourselves, and our relationship with God. And we’ll do this by learning about Jesus Christ, what He has done for us, and His plans for each of our lives.
What does a typical meeting look like?
You can format your club meetings to best suit the needs of your counselors and girls. But, here are some basic components that many clubs find it beneficial to incorporate into a typical meeting:
o 6:30 Opening (large group)
o Welcome and object lesson or devotional thought
o Praise and worship
o 6:55 Bible studies in small groups
o 7:35 Activity time in small groups
o Badge work, games, service projects, or crafts-with-a-purpose
o 8:15 Snack (large group or small), closing prayer, cleanup
o 8:30 Dismissal
This is a great way to help your girls to meet more Christian girls and be involved in a beginning Bible study program.
If you like what you read, check out our children’s book, Hooked on the Book, on this website.
