God Is Very Fond Of You

God loves you

What do you think of when you hear that someone is very fond of you?  I think of an uncle or aunt or grandparent that has seen me grow up and has a soft spot in their heart for me.  Not because I have done something great and despite my failings, they just love me for me.

It reminds me of the verse in Matthew 3:17 when God says regarding Jesus after His baptism and as the Holy Spirit is descending upon Him, “This is my beloved Son in who I am well pleased”.  God was so fond of Jesus and pleased with for who He was.  Jesus hadn’t even started his primary ministry at this time.  He was just God’s Son.

The truth is, God just thinks we are wonderful.  He made us and can see the miracle of His creation every time He thinks of us.  He is fond of His creation and loves being around us.

I have a 3×5 card on which I have written “Papa (Father), help me to understand that You are very fond of me”.  I meditate on that truth every morning.  Understanding God’s fondness for us makes all the difference in the world.  On that same card I have also written, “Papa, help me to express to others that You are very fond of them”.  I look for ways every day to do just that.

Why not give your children something that will express to them that you are very fond of them and that God feels the same way too.  I am doing that by sending to my son a text every day and expressing my fondness for him and God’s as well.  What’s your gift of fondness?
