Every child needs to know that God loves them and that He is there greatest enourager.
Paul wrote in his letter to the Thessalonians…
“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, 17 comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.” (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17)
Every one of us needs encouragement. How wonderful it is to know that the God who created us and loves us is also our greatest encourager. He wants to speak hope into the deepest part of our being when we feel hopeless and is standing on the sidelines of our lives cheering us on every step of the way.
Ask your kids what or who encourages them? Have them pick out the words or phrases from this verse that are God’s ways of encouraging us; words like ‘loved us’, ‘gave eternal comfort’, ‘wonderful hope’, ‘strength’. Ask them how they feel when they hear these words about how God wants to encourage them?
Ask them what area in their lives they need encouragement? Apply these words to that situation and pray through it together.
