Every child needs to know that God loves them and that God wants to draw them close.
The apostle Paul wrote …
“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them.” (2 Corinthians 5:18, 19)
We have all felt it. Rejection from someone else. It hurts! As a result, a gulf is created in our relationship. We pull back in fear or anger. The closeness we once felt is buried. It is awful!
It not only happens in our earthly relationships, but also in our heavenly relationship. Even as Christians, we disobey God and we pull back from Him because we mistakenly believe He is angry with us. But it isn’t true. In the same way that God brought us back to Himself when we were dead in our sins through Christ, He does it every day.
God’s hatred for our sin has been covered over with Christ’s blood. He loves us and wants to have fellowship with us constantly.
Ask your kids if they are feeling close to God? Ask them if not, why not? Identify any lie they are believing about sin separating them from God. Remind them that God wants them to be close all the time. Sin was dealt with once and for all on the cross. They need only receive that forgiveness and come back into God’s arms. Pray with them to receive God’s love and come back to Him.
