“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[d] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:31-33)
It is so easy to be anxious about getting what we need each day. We can let our days be dominated by worry and fear about the future. Jesus tells us all that we have a heavenly Father who already knows exactly what we need, before we even thought about it.
Ask your children what things worry them about today or about the future? Read these verses together and ask them if they realized that God knew about these things already and promised to take care of them? Ask them if they believe that God will take care of these things?
Share some of the things you are concerned about as well and ask your children to pray with you about their concerns and yours. Acknowledge the concerns and then thank God together that He loves you and has these needs under control and affirm that you will hand your anxiety over to Him and ask for His peace as you seek to do His will.
