Every child needs to know that God loves them and that someday He will wipe away every tear and sorrow will be no more.
“I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.[a] 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.'” (Revelation 21:3, 4)
For adults and especially for kids it is hard to think about something which feels way out in the future. Specifically, what happens when our Lord returns to this earth, or when our earthly lives are over and we are in heaven, whichever comes first. It is easy to focus on our present pain but how do we receive comfort from something that God promises for the future?
God had John write Revelation to encourage us to look ahead with anticipation. In fact in this passage says that God had this message shouted. God was saying, don’t miss this, think about it NOW!
Read this passage with your kids and ask them what makes them cry? Ask them what it would be like if God took away everything that made them cry? Ask them what God would replace those things with? Remind them that God has promised that this day will come. Rejoice together with God and thank Him for this promise.
