God Loves Your Kids – His Loves Them Perfectly

Every child needs to know that they have a Father in heaven who loves them and loves them perfectly.

Jesus said…

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[i] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:43-48 )

There are two ways to look at this passage.  It can be seen as an exhortation on how we are to love perfectly toward those who don’t deserve it.  Or it can be seen as a picture of how our heavenly Father loves us and those around us perfectly.

Ask your children – who does the Father cause the sun to rise upon? Who does the Father send rain upon?  Who does He perfectly love?  Every one of us.

God is the one who is perfect.  He loves each one of us unconditionally.  Tell your children that there is nothing they could do that would stop God from loving them.  They do not need to perform for God.  He has already done it.  We can all relax in God’s love and stop trying to prove we deserve it.  His love is perfect and we cannot add to it.

Thank God with your children for His perfect love.
