Every child needs to know that God loves them and that God sending Jesus to die on the cross as a sacrifice proves it.
The apostle John wrote …
“This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins..” (1 John 4:10)
We often hear the words “I love you”, but do we see the actions that back it up? Couples share marital vows of love to each other only to end up in bitter divorce when things get difficult. Friends have a fight and won’t speak to each other. Churches split and former members of this fellowship won’t speak to each other.
God on the other hand made the sacrifice of His Son the ultimate statement of love toward each one of us. He gave His Son to us when we didn’t love Him back. That is real love that we can count on.
Ask your kids how much God loves them? Ask them how they feel when they think about the ultimate act of love, Christ dying for them to take away their sins? Spend some time thanking God and getting loved up by God through thinking about Jesus dying on the cross for you.
