What practical key life learnings can we glean from the life of Eleazar?
Context (Numbers 20:22-29; 27:12-23): Eleazar was the son of Aaron and the nephew of Moses and Miriam. He was a priest and later became the High Priest when his father Aaron died.
He worked closely with Joshua and Caleb to bring God’s People into the Promised Land. He was a patient understudy to his father as a priest.
He had seen his two older brothers burned to death because of their improper handling of priestly tools. He had also seen his father unable to enter the Promised Land along with Moses because of their disobedience.
Amidst all this, Eleazar was a man how carried out his work faithfully day after day.
Key Life Learnings:
- Prepare yourself for future challenges by being diligent with what has been given to you to do today (Numbers 20:22-29; 27:12-23): Eleazar had a long time of preparation before he became the High Priest who led the people along with Joshua into the promised land. He had many daily duties that he had to perform. All these duties prepared him for taking over as High Priest from his father, Aaron. Most of the time we don’t know what God has in store for us in the future, but what we do know is that God is giving us today things to do that are preparing us for that future. Our job is to be faithful with what is right in front of us and trust that God will take care of the future.
