Jesus’ 10 New Testament Principles for Parenting: Principle No. 2 – Take Very Good Care Of Yourselves (Part 3)

Jesus modeled this parenting principle to His children of ‘taking very good care of Himself’.

Jesus replied, ’I assure you, the Son can do nothing by Himself.  He does only what He sees the Father doing.  Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.” (John 5:19)

So Jesus took very good care of Himself by doing whatever He saw the Father doing.  Even Jesus didn’t know what to do, but He knew the Father so well that He received daily directions from His Father.

As parents, one of our primary jobs is to check in with the kingdom control tower every day to receive instructions on how to lead our family.  Now that doesn’t mean that God will audibly speak to us, I haven’t had that happen in my life yet.

On the other hand, I have never yet had God ignore my requests for guidance when I ask Him.

I am constantly asking God to direct my mind, mouth, hands and feet when it comes to parenting.  When to get involved, when to back off.  When God directs me then I know I am not only taking good care of myself, but I am taking good care of my family.
