Today let’s focus on a Bible miracle from the book of Mark. Jesus heals blind Bartimaeus(Mark 10:46-52)
This is this story of persistence and faith that Jesus responded to with a miracle.
Ask the children…
Blind Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was coming. What did he do and keep on doing despite what others said?
“When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’ ‘Be quiet!’ many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!’” (Mark 10:47, 48 )
What did Bartimaeus do when he heard that Jesus was calling for him and how did he respond to Jesus’ question?
“Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus.’What do you want me to do for you?’ Jesus asked. ‘My rabbi,’ the blind man said, ‘I want to see!'” (Mark 10:50, 51)
“And Jesus said to him, ‘Go, for your faith has healed you.’ Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.” (Mark 10:52)
We don’t know exactly how it works, but somehow personal desire is a big part of the healing process. Nothing was going to get in the way of Baritimaeus, he was going to do everything in his power to be noticed by Jesus. And it worked! Jesus said that Bartimaeus’ faith had healed him.
I love to see the zeal of those who are coming and asking for healing at conferences. They are the first ones to raise their hands for healing and to come forward for prayer. I know that God takes notice of this type of zealous faith. Does it open the windows of heaven just a little bit wider? According to this passage it does.
