Jesus The Leader, A Craft Idea

Jesus wants to lead you! What great news that is.  So often we try to do life alone when in fact God wants us to come to him so that He can be our guide.  John 10:1-18 Jesus tells the story of the good shepherd who knows His sheep and the sheep know His voice. Jesus then says that He is that shepherd of His people.

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me…”

For your child to understand that God wants to lead them is such an important concept.  It teaches them that they never have to be alone, no matter what life throws at them God will lead them through it.

To help them realize what Jesus being the shepherd means asks your kids what a shepherd does- protects sheep, leads them, feeds them, houses them, looks for the sheep when they get lost, etc.  Then explain to them that Jesus wants to do all those things for them.  All they have to do is ask Him.  As a reminder that Jesus wants to do this your kids can make a cotton sheep craft.  Check out this website to learn how.  On the page of the craft have them write, “I am a sheep, Jesus, the shepherd, wants to lead me!”
