Kids Teaching: How To Read The Bible

Teaching Your Kids How To Read The Bible

Many times when we read a passage in the Bible our response is “How does this apply to my life?”   This is a legitimate question but is this the only and best question we should be asking?  In the article “Live With Intentionality”, by Caroline Bower and Lynne Ellis, this question is asked instead:

“What does this passage tell me about God and His purposes?”

What a different question! The Bible is the story of how God has moved through time so why would we belittle it to think that it is really all about how it applies to us.  As your kids grow up you are modeling how to read the Bible.  At the end of a passage do you ask how does this apply to you or will you ask what does this say about our God.
