Today let’s focus on teaching kids a Bible miracle from the book of Acts. Paul miraculously heals Publius’ father. (Acts 28:7, 8 )
Paul is accused by the Jewish leaders of breaking their laws. In a Roman court Paul has appealed his case to Caesar and as a result is being taken under armed guard by ship to Rome. After a shipwreck on the island of Malta, the people came and cared for Paul and his companions. Publius, the chief official of the island, cared for them for 3 days.
Ask the children?
Who became sick and what was he sick of?
“As it happened, Publius’s father was ill with fever and dysentery.” (Acts 28:8 )
What did Paul do and what miracle happened?
“Paul went in and prayed for him, and laying his hands on him, he healed him.” (Acts 28:8 )
Paul cared for these people on the island. They had already seen the miracle of Paul not being harmed by poisonous snake bite. Now they saw that Paul could even heal other people of sickness.
What a testimony to the power of God and to the message of Good News that Paul always brought with him when God did miracles.
Ask your children if God is using them to minister to the needs of others? Can they name a situation when this occurred? Ask them if they know how to share the Good News of Jesus with those people? If not, walk them through the gospel message and how to pray with someone for forgiveness and new life in Christ. Then pray with them for the next situation that comes along that they will be bold to share Jesus.
