Kid’s Devotionals For Every Bible Miracle – Paul Gives The Gift Of The Holy Spirit

Acts images

Let’s look at another Bible Miracle from the book of Acts.  Paul preached Jesus and laid hands on 12 men so that the received the gift of the Holy Spirit.  (Acts 19:1-7)

After Corinth, Paul came to the great city of Ephesuswhere he would remain for 3 years.  This became one of the centers of the expansion of Christianity.  There Paul was able to perform many miracles.  Here was the first.

Ask the children…

Paul came upon 12 men who had believed John’s message of repentance.  What did they not know about?

“’Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Paul asked them.  ‘No,’ they replied, ‘we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.’” (Acts 19:2)

Who else did they not know about?

“Paul said, ‘John’s baptism called for repentance from sin.  But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.’”  (Acts 19:4)

What bible miracle happened when they believed in Jesus?

“Then when Paul laid his hands on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.” (Acts 19:6)

Jesus had told His disciples just before He ascended that it was for their benefit that He leave because then He would send the Holy Spirit to come and live in them and empower them to live the Christ life.  Here Paul gives the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit when they believe and it was evidenced by the further miracle of the 12 being able to speak the praises of God in languages unknown to them.

As we near the Christmas season with all the gift giving, remind your children that the greatest gift of all that God has given to us is the gift of the Holy Spirit who came because Jesus died and rose again.  Thank God for the miraculous power He has put inside each one of us to live the Christ life because of the Holy Spirit.
